Leadership Development

This program is designed to prepare managers and individual contributors to lead, influence and motivate people to be results-driven. Thus, managers and individual contributors enhance their skill sets to achieve favorable outcomes through teamwork, partnerships with a results orientation. Our approach is unique because we focus on the individual and support their development by examining their mental models, career and personal goals and objectives. Mental models refer to their inner work; deeply ingrained assumptions, generalizations and even images that influence how they understand the world, the organization, their employees, colleagues and various systems they engage. Interpretation and analyses of extensive self assessment and 360º Feedback instruments provide a comprehensive perspective of current leadership capability and developmental needs. We emphasize goal achievement through both individual and collective accountability. In 2006, MDI launched its Leadership Development Institute at the Army Research Laboratory. Program content for this nine to twelve month program included: Executive Communication, Visionary Leadership, Foundations of Effective Leadership, Establishing Accountability Systems and Setting Performance Standards. The program requires a Capstone Project that meets these criteria: relevant to strategic issues, measusrable cost savings or increased revenue and have sustainable results.
